How to Draw A Cartoon Apple
Apples may look simple and, on the surface, have a fairly simple shape.
Even so, they can be surprisingly difficult to draw because if you don’t get the shape right, it could look unnatural.
That’s why in this guide, we’re going to break it down into easier steps so you can see that it can actually be really easy!
In the first step of this cartoon apple drawing, we’ll start with the left side of the apple. Look closely at the first half of our example to see what the overall shape will look like.
It will be rounded at the top, and the rounded section at the bottom will be much smaller.
Now that we’ve drawn the first half, we can move on to the next part of the guide.
If you look at a real apple, you will notice that there is a small bump at the base. This is what we are going to draw in step 2 of this How to Draw a cartoon apple guide.
First, draw another small rounded section next to the section you drew earlier.
Therefore, we expand the right side of the apple. This line will be slightly curved and angled slightly outward, as shown in the reference image.
That’s all for now, and we’ll add more to the pattern in the next step.
In the third step of our tutorial on how to draw a cartoon apple, we will complete the outline of the apple.
All you have to do is draw another curved line going up from where the line previously ended.
It rotates up, around, and then down until it almost touches the other line at the top of the apple. There will be a small gap there, and you will see why in the next step!
Apples usually have a big stalk where they are picked from the tree, and now let’s draw one. This will also show you why we left that little gap in the previous step!
The stem is drawn with curved lines to form a very thin stem at the base and wider at the top.
Be sure to add a small curved line at the base of the stem, like in our reference image. Then we can add the finishing touches in the next step!
It’s time to give this apple some final touches and details before adding some nice colors in the final step.
All you have to do is draw a leaf on the stem using rounded lines and a pointed tip at the end. It is then given some curved grain details to finish it off.
Then you can add some final details! You could draw a background or maybe draw other fruits to place next to the apple. There are even fun details to add, like a cute worm jumping out of the apple!
This is the last step of the guide, and in it, we will finish the drawing with some color!
Apples come in many different colors, and in our reference image, we chose a beautiful combination of red colors.
Instead of just using one shade of red, we incorporated some darker and lighter sections to create some shading for the apple.
They also show where the light reflects off the top of the apple. As mentioned, there are other colors you can choose!
Green and yellow would be some suitable options, but you could also use brighter, more stylistic colors.
If you’ve drawn a background, don’t forget to color those elements too! We can’t wait to see what colors and media you choose.
